Reference questions

How to find Book number/location

To order a book from the stacks you need the book number / location and not the system number. This number is found on the screen of full bibliographic information on the last line: " Location - All copies".
The book number or location in a Reading Room is found on the bottom of the screen. For example: S 2=92 B 3558. If the book is located in a Reading Room there is no need to order it from the stacks. Go directly to the Reading Room.

How to search by subject

Books about a person or an institution are listed under "Subjects: Personal & Corporate names". For other subjects use "Keywords anywhere".

The Dewey Decimal classification number can be searched by: "Dewey (subject) number". Indexes to the decimal arrangement can be found at the reference desk. If you are familiar with a book on the same subject, you will find the DC number on the screen of Full Record View: "DC Classification".
You can use this DC number to find other books on the same subject.

"Advanced search" - are keyword searches from all indexes or from a specific index (author, title or subject) with the possibility of combining words.
For example: water and Israel
