Where is the National Library and how does one get there?
The library is located on the Givat Ram campus of the Hebrew University
in Jerusalem. Click here

Who may use the services of the library?
Anyone over the age of 16 may use the resources of the library for research
and reading purposes. Students, faculty and university personnel have
lending privileges. Others may open an annual lending subscription at
the circulation desk.
When are sales of duplicate books held?
Sales are held every few months. Notices of dates and times will be posted
on the homepage of the library.
Reference questions
How to find Book number/location
To order a book from the stacks you need the book number / location and
not the system number. This number is found on the screen of full bibliographic
information on the last line: " Location - All copies".
The book number or location in a Reading Room is found on the bottom of the screen. For example: S 2=92 B 3558.
If the book is located in a Reading Room there is no need to order it
from the stacks. Go directly to the Reading Room.
How to search by subject
Books about a person or an institution are listed under "Subjects: Personal & Corporate names". For other subjects use "Keywords anywhere".
The Dewey Decimal classification number can be searched by: "Dewey
(subject) number". Indexes to the decimal arrangement can be found at
the reference desk. If you are familiar with a book on the same subject, you will find the DC number on the screen of Full Record View:
"DC Classification". You can use this DC number to find other books on the same subject.
"Advanced search" - are keyword searches from all indexes or from a specific index (author, title or subject) with the possibility of combining
words.

3. Which databases can be searched from home?
Databases can be
accessed only from computers connected to the Hebrew University. Electronic
resources can be accessed from any computer through the Internet.
4. Which catalogues can be searched from home?
All the catalogues
and indexes cited can be searched from home, excluding the Index to Hebrew
Periodicals (IHP).
5. How to search for periodicals
Use the on-line catalogue of the
ULS
– Union List of Serials in Israel Libraries.
